Adventure at Wild Africa Safari - These lions are no kidding

Safari Wild offers a personal wildlife experience where visitors are surrounded by zebra, gazelle, scimitar-horned oryx, ostrich and other species of African wildlife—all sharing the beauty and diversity of savannah environment. The king of the forest or so the African lion has been re-baptized. The lion may be the king of the savannah but certainly not of the forest; it is not its habitat. Its scientific name is panthera Leo, a carnivore; class- mammals; family- felines. Its length may reach 2 ½ meters, its height one metre. The female is slightly smaller. Weight; 200 to 250kg. Gestation period; 105 to 110 days. Length of life; up to 20 years. The lioness not only takes care of the cubs (three or four at a time) but it is also the more expert and agile hunter. Zebra and antelopes of various types like impala, Kongoni, make up the regular diet of an African lion. In need, it does not scorn rats, rock rabbits, and even carrions of elephants, buffaloes and giraffes. The worst enemy of the lion is a rather innocuous animal, the size of a small dog; the porcupine who very cleverly waits for the lion to run after him then suddenly stops letting the hunter stick its nose in a forest of sharp quills in its jaws as this may remain stuck there for life, a painful reminder every time it has to chew.

The vision for Safari Wild is not a theme park or zoo-type development, but a green project using alternative livestock and minimal development (fences and animal support buildings). Small tours of wildlife enthusiasts can experience a working game ranch behind-the-scenes, being toured on electric vehicles led by trained safari guides. Guests can see how a sustainable game ranch works (with solar and wind elements) and gain a better understanding of man’s relationship to animals. The animals have huge spaces in which to roam and form social associations and behaviors only seen in the wild.

Great cherry blossom at Japan

Cherry blossoms, sakura, is the national flower of Japan. Cherry blossom viewing has been a Japanese custom since the 7th century when the aristocrats enjoyed looking at the cherry blossoms and wrote poems. If you never seen cherry blossoms, plan a trip to Japan in spring. Sakura is different from the cherry of other countries. Japanese cherry trees do not yield fruits like other cherry trees. Cherry blossom on the street

The cherry blossom (sakura) is Japan's unofficial national flower. It has been celebrated for many centuries and holds a very prominent position in Japanese culture. There are many dozens of different cherry tree varieties in Japan, most of which bloom for just a couple of days in spring. The Japanese celebrate that time of the year with hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties under the blooming trees. Hanami literally means "flower viewing", however, it commonly refers only to cherry blossom viewing. Cherry blossom viewing is easy: Simply enjoy the intensity of the many blossoms by looking at a single tree or a group of trees. From a distance, the trees appear as beautiful clouds, while the beauty of single blossoms can be enjoyed from a close distance. Cherry blossoms are also especially beautiful in combination with a castle, temple or shrine. In some places the blossoms are lit up in the evening, which makes an amazing sight.

Hanami can be just a stroll in the park, but it traditionally also involves a picnic party under the blooming trees. Hanami parties have been held in Japan for many centuries, and today are held in public and private gardens and parks across the country. Famous cherry blossom spots can get very crowded, and the best picnic spots are fought after.

Top 10 European Castle Hotels

Kings and queens have stayed here. Courtiers have flirted with ladies-in-waiting in the ancient yew-hedged gardens. Serving girls have chattered in the stone-flagged courtyard. Today, Thornbury Castle still resonates with history and is the only Tudor castle in England to be open as a hotel…and it’s only 15 minutes from the M5. However, step behind the heavy oak doors and you'll find a magnificent hotel with roaring fires, delicious modern cuisine and sumptuous bedchambers – a truly special setting for an overnight stay, a weekend away or for more formal occasions.

Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn once walked these rooms and grounds. Today, the 500 year-old castle-palace with its beautiful oriel windows, Tudor hall and historic parkland is yours for the duration of your stay. There has even been a vineyard within the castle walls for over 500 years, from which Thornbury Castle wine is still produced. Enjoy a regal night's sleep in the Duke's Bedchamber where King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn slept or favour the Gloucester Bedchamber and wake up to a view of the oldest Tudor gardens in England - the Privy Garden and Goodly Garden.

Israel's weird subway system

It's called the Carmelit and it runs underground in the citry of Haifa, Israel. Right now is the country's only subway system and because the city is located on the side of Mount Carmel, the entire subway is inclined.

This is really special. And this remind me of the tram at the Peak in Hong Kong.

Free Tour to Europe

Offering free walking tours in London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Paris, and Madrid, SANDEMANs. NEW Europe Tours is committed to providing everyone, no matter of budget, with the best tour available. It is our goal to help travelers fully discover the beauty and rich history of as many European cities as possible. Our expert guides share with you their personal stories and insights during their intriguing tours. Since they work for tips, every tour is consistently one of the best in Europe.

Available in London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Paris and Madrid, each tour begins at a central meeting place and lasts two to four hours as it provides an overview of the city's sights. In London, for example, two free tours are available—one focusing on the Old City of London, and the other concentrating on Royal London. In Berlin, meanwhile New Europe Tours offers both walking and bicycle tours for free. Tours are often available in multiple languages, and Sandeman's New Europe also publishes a free line of English language New Europe magazines, as well as offering hostel booking on its site. The company got started in Berlin in 2004, and has been expanding ever since. As the euro continues to be painfully expensive for tourists from outside the EU, New Europe Tours are no doubt more popular than ever. Recession-proof tourism, anyone...?

While participants on the tours don't have to pay to attend, tips are expected—roughly EUR 10 a head is reportedly standard, which could be viewed as pay what you want rather than strictly free. Besides providing guides with decent income from tips, the tours also advertise the company's range of private and paid tours, including the Red Berlin Tour, the New Paris Tour of Versailles and pub crawls. Indeed, a full 46 percent of visitors who take the company's free Berlin tour end up taking one of the paid tours as well, the company states. Which, of course, is yet another testament to the (marketing) power of free love. Make it fun, make it informative, but most of all, make it free! Consumers will return your love with interest. ;-)

Autumn in japan

Colorful leaves (koyo) are to the Japanese autumn what cherry blossoms are to spring. The viewing of autumn leaves has been a popular activity in Japan for centuries and today draws large numbers of travelers to famous spots. Each year, starting in late September, the "koyo front" slowly moves southwards from the northern island of Hokkaido until it reaches the lower elevations of central and southern Japan towards the end of November. Autum is the most beautiful season in Japan. The trees turn red or yellow all together, it is called "Ko-Yo" in Japanese, and many people go on excursion . Above all, Kyoto has many famous sights for colored leaves.

Famous spots for autumn leaves are scattered across the country, especially in mountainous regions, parks, temples and gardens. Shugakuin Station or Shugakuin-rikyu bus stop The spacious and elegant gardens of this imperial villa feature beautiful autumn colors during the second half of November. It can only be visited on tours, and advance reservations are mandatory.

When to Go to Japan

June and the beginning of July is the Japanese rainy season called Tsuyu. If you don't like rain avoid this time. I think it can be a cool and nice time to visit Japan. But it really does rain everyday! In Hokkaido, there is no rainy season, so you don't have to worry about the rain. July and August are usually very hot and humid on the mainland in Japan. If you are visiting Hokkaido, these months are the best, because the weather is cool and dry there. O-bon festival time (August 13-16) is another Japanese vacation season. I recommend avoiding this time if you can. However, Tokyo tends to be less crowded since many people go back to their home towns.

Now that you've decided to visit Japan, you maybe wondering when is the best time to take your trip. I will give you some ideas. Japan has four distinct seasons. In my opinion, spring and fall, when the weather is mild is the best time for traveling. Let's take a look at each season.Sakura or cherry blossoms bloom in March and April on the main land in Japan. Viewing the pretty sakura flowers is a main reason for many travelers to visit Japan. See Japanese Cherry Blossom There is a popular Japanese vacation season called Golden week (around April 29 to around May 5.) I recommend avoiding traveling to Japan in this season if you can.

This place is damm cold, even the wave is frozen.

Do you ever see a sea become ice? All the buildings around it is frozen by ice? If not, this is for you. Even the wave is frozen while half way. Not sure if any birds will get trapped.

You want to talk about world records, Antarctica is the land of extremes. It is the coldest, windiest, and highest continent anywhere on earth. With an average elevation about 7,544ft/2,300 meters above sea level it is the highest continent. Even though it is covered in ice it receives some of the least amount of rainfall, getting just slightly more rainfall than the Sahara Desert, making it the largest desert on earth. Most people have the misconception that a desert is a hot, dry, sandy, lifeless place, but the true definition of a desert is any geographical location that receives very, very little rainfall. Even though there's ice on the ground in Antarctica, that ice has been there for a very long time.

Antarctica is the only continent that has never had an indigenous population of humans because it has always been such an extreme environment. Just the boat ride getting to the continent is over the most treacherous seas anywhere in the world. The inaccessibility of the place and the lack of reliable food and means for constructing shelter has kept humans away for thousands of years. But the new technologies developed over the last 200 years made it possible for people to reach these icy shores to explore and study the Antarctic for the first time in human history.

Beautiful Natural Border - Big eye view

Nothing I can say... just wish I am the one in the helicopter
Very impressive isn't it? In fact, I am very curious how the countries draw the border line. I think these natural resources would be a great way.

Grand Canyon Photographer

This is a case of a photographer photographing another photographer. The following pictures were taken by Hans van de Vorst from the Netherlands at the Grand Canyon, Arizona .
The identity of the photographer in the photos is unknown. I was simply stunned seeing this guy standing on this solitary rock in the Grand Canyon . The canyon's depth is 900 meters ( 3,000 ' ) here. The rock on the right is affixed to the edge of the canyon and perfectly safe. Watching this guy in his rubber thong sandals, burdened with a camera and a tripod.

I asked myself 3 questions:
1. How did he climb that rock?
2. Why not take that sunset picture from that rock on the right, which is perfectly safe?
3. How will he get back?

After the sun set behind the canyon's horizon he packed his things and prepared himself for the jump. This took about 2 minutes. At that point he definitely had the full attention of the crowd.
This is the point of no return. After that, he jumped in his thong sandals & only having one hand free . . . The canyon's depth is 900 meters ( 3,000 feet ) here.
You can see that the adjacent rock is quite a bit higher than where he is ( & quite steep. ) He hopes to use his one free hand to grab on to the rock. Look carefully at the photographer. He is carrying a camera, a tripod and also a plastic bag ~ all on his shoulder or in his left hand. He lands low on his flip flops ~ both his right hand and right foot slip away... And at that moment I take this shot:
He pushes his body tight against the rock ~ waits for a few seconds, throws his stuff on top of the rock, then climbs up & walks away. ( Presumably to a bathroom to change his shorts!)

China Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony - High technology devices in used

The usage of high technology devices during the opening ceremony is something surprise to me. Espeically the big screen being display on the ground. And people are steping and moving on it. The combination of arts, drawing, singing, dancing with the high tech LCD display. This is something new to me. And the overal effect is great! At least I love it, I wish I can view it again.

Not really know how the London manage to match it four years later, but to perform something better than Beijing, is really a big challenge, eventhough the technology can advance a lot during these 4 years.
