Amazing striped icebergs

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions. Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe. Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

A great video on George Town Penang

Malaysia's George Town at Penang is now an UNESCO world cultural heritage city. Take a look at its promotional video put on web, wow, you will be so impressed. They really did a very great job in promoting the travel. Maybe others city should learn from it.

I only been to Penang once when I was young, just remember a hill where you can take the cable car, a big sleeping buddha, and the bridge, of course the butterfly park too. The rest, no much impression.

Do you feel like to visiting it now? It looks really fun.

The New Marina Barrage at Singapore

There has been very major changes to Singapore skyline recent year. With the adding of Esplande, the Intergrated Resort, everything looks so different than a few years back. The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built across the Marina Channel between the reclaimed lands of Marina East and Marina South. It was officially opened on 1 November 2008.

The Marina Barrage is part of a comprehensive flood control scheme to alleviate flooding in the low-lying areas in the city such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang. The S$226 million project turns Marina Bay and Kallang Basin into a new downtown freshwater Marina Reservoir. It provides water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction. This structure will provide flood control by changing the tide flow into the barrage.

The night scene at Singapore can be quite beautiful too.

You get all wet at Venice

Venice, a romantic city in the northen Italy, you will really get wet at this place. Venice is world-famous for its canals. The transportation within the city remains, as it was in centuries past, entirely on water or on foot. The classical Venetian boat is the gondola, although it is now mostly used for tourists, or for weddings.

But with global warming, Venice has suffered its worst flooding in 22 years, leaving some parts of the historic Italian city neck-deep in water. Venice, built around a network of canals and small islands, has for years been trying to tackle the problem of floods that have regularly blighted the city. In 2007, the United Nations cultural organization UNESCO warned Venice -- a designated World Heritage Site -- is under threat from rising sea levels caused by climate change.

Vaporetto (water bus) is the most amazing method of getting around Venice; you won’t find too many public transport routes as unforgettable as vaporetto. Get yourself a travel pass to ride the exclusive vaporetto - single tickets don't come cheap, and are less economical if you plan to spend days touring Venice and exploring every nook and cranny.
